What is the cost to add an ensuite extension?

Recently we completed a small ensuite extension to a customer’s existing home using timber frame construction we used BGC Nuline cladding on the exterior to give it a contrasting look to the double brick rendered exterior. Inside the ensuite consisted of a walk-in shower, 900mm vanity and a toilet. The tiling was a mix of modern grey concrete look tiles and large white wall tiles.

Wet areas are always the most expensive type of extension you can build due to the plumbing, tiling and special slab prep you must do such as screeding and waterproofing. Not to mention as with any extension there is the cost of a roof involved too! To help reduce the cost with this extension we added on a skillion colorbond roof which again created a modern contrast, to the tiled roof.

Above and beyond the expense everyone prefers a home with two bathrooms over just one, and therefore adding on an ensuite can add serious value to your home if you are looking at re selling in the future or if you want to increase the value of your home for other reasons.

​​​Besides this point, how long can you handle living with just one bathroom? If you plan to stay in the home long term a combination of adding value to your home and having a second bathroom is more than enough to warrant paying for an extension.
